The Society is committed to focus and energize essential medicines concept, rational use of medicines and patient safety agenda in order to build affordable, equitable, efficient healthcare systems and patient safety environment. The specific objectives are:
To promote the rational use of medicines in India in the private and public sector
To develop methods for improving availability of safe and effective medicines
To develop tools for promoting safe and quality use of medicines including communicable and non-communicable diseases, patient safety and improve patient outcomes
To develop and promote good procurement and medication management systems and good dispensing practices
To strengthen public health education programmes with particular reference to the safe use of medicines
To assist sate public health departments to build capacity in the above areas through systematic training programmes
To conduct research on all aspects of medicines use and patient safety
